It was not long ago that the dwarf was a free man, doing his duties as a map maker in the order of the sacred mountain of Kols. The surrounding mountainous areas in Cheliax where the land was uncharted and and the risks many were great training for him. Language was banned for 22 hours of the day and visitors in such a remote place were few.

The mountains were the source of influence in every detail of daily life. Legend was that once you attained enlightenment you became a mountain yourself, sprouting up from the earth where you were buried.

Yet something happened, and he was evicted from his order, taking an oath of slavery as punishment for his crime.

And it came to be that he was in that fated slave fair when that fated lady bought him for her voyage south.
